I was really looking forward to reading this novel as I'm originally from Brooklyn. However, I was left disappointed. There was very little character development throughout the story and other than a few paragraphs waxing nostalgic on what Brooklyn used to be like, very little world building. This was more of a "he said, she said, they said" with the author telling everything rather than letting the story unfold and allow the reader to fill in the blanks with their imagination. The main character seems stiff and appears to do things purely by rote rather than by any sort of internal reasoning. There were enough issues with the grammar that it took me, as a reader, out of the story as well.Product details

The Hitman Life in Brooklyn Joey Toranetti Series Book 1 edition by Bob Ieva Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
I've known Bob for a bit of time - I knew he was writing a book... I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading - but I was more than a bit surprised. It's an easy read and of course entertaining - but more importantly to me, it was just like sitting down at a pizza joint with Bob - talking about the "good old days".
I definitely recommend taking the time to read this over the summer. EB
I really enjoyed this first book by this author. It's a short read, but a compelling novel of life in Brooklyn, New York in the 1950s. It is fiction, but obviously based on experiences the author is very familiar with.
As part of a trilogy, I'll have to wait to find out what happens next with Joey and "the Hitman".
This is a great book! Can't wait to read the whole series!
good short story
Excited about this book
