Berkowitz is a brave and startlingly talented writer. I feel richer for having read her book and can’t wait to see what she does next.

Speaking as a writer, poet and someone who lives with chronic pain as well, this is a 'blood-soaked gem and a half' i.e. honest and perfectly chiseled. Sorry for my lack of elegance....but this is . I do this only when I love a book. The pages are at times short-yet it does not detract. It is poetic, lyrical yet still have the core of all lovely and brooding memoirs-it has honesty and punch. It is sparse, yet beautifully crafted and full of both light and dark, cold and warm, and yet still has this unrelenting trickle from this deep river of life interwoven into all of it. That flow of honesty that her writing holds makes so many of these pages move just like water right through your hands, yet still reminds behind staining your mind like ink.
I hope that we will get to hear more from Amy Berkowitz very soon!

Very interesting book. Poetry, prose, personal reflection & information about fibromyalgia & its relationship to abuse.
Very readable. Structured very creatively.
This book was not what I expected but it is a good book that speaks of what it is like to have Fibromyalgia. It was worth the cost just to know that I am not alone in my pain and fibro-fog. It reflects my life perfectly, like it wad written about my life not Ms. Berkowitz. Kudos to her for putting it out there. My daughter and my sister read it to and they now have a better understanding of why I live like I do.
Tender Points is a story about pain. About fibromyalgia, specifically. About rape, specifically. About being a woman in pain. About being a woman diagnosed with fibromyalgia. About being a woman who was raped. Berkowitz explores the twin presence of pain and trauma, of a rape that boommerangs back through the body and becomes fibromyalgia, and what it means to be a woman who is not believed (because she is a woman) - not about the rape, not about the pain, and how she goes on living with the pain. I believe my body took this book in as much as my brain; saying "Yes, yes, yes, this is how it is. Thank you."
